RUE DE LABORDE

Known for its collection of financial institutions as well as high-end shopping establishments, the 8th arrondissement is home to the remarkable Palais Garnier, and a fabulous location for veterans and first time visitors to the City of Light alike.

This large, one-bedroom apartment of 65 square meters (700 square feet) is ideally located on the small Rue de Laborde, which affords it a quiet atmosphere, but its proximity to Boulevard Haussmann and Boulevard Malesherbes offers a delightful neighborhood at your doorstep and a variety of metro lines within a short walk (the nearest metro stops - Saint-Augustin, Saint-Lazare and Miromesnil – are all less than 10 minutes on foot). The apartment is on the fourth floor of a carefully maintained building with elevator.

Recently renovated and professionally decorated, this luxury property magnificently melds classic and contemporary design and decoration. Immediately upon entering, one is taken by the natural light in the apartment as it reflects from high moulded ceilings and cream-colored walls.

Just off the wide entry hall is the kitchen, which efficiently provides all the necessities within a compact space. The kitchen equipment includes a four-burner electric ceramic cooktop with oven below, a half-size dishwasher, an undercounter refrigerator and various countertop appliances. The counter space is generous, with a semicircle to the left of the cooktop providing a spacious prep area. Dark countertops offset the white and glass-fronted cabinets with stainless accents and small spotlights for excellent illumination. Opposite the kitchen is the apartment’s only powder room with WC and basin.

Herringbone hardwood floors run from the entry straight into the comfortable salon with dining area. A marble fireplace with gilded mirror is flanked by built-in bookcases; along with various books and objets d’art, one holds a large flat-screen television with cable reception including English-speaking channels. The other bookcase includes an iPod docking station. A light-colored tweed couch and oversized arm chair surround a rectangular ottoman that doubles as a coffee table, creating an inviting seating area. A bay window overlooking Rue de Laborde offers a sunny dining area, with a round pedestal table, two white upholstered chairs, and a blue banquette, to cozily seat four diners.

Through the salon is the spacious bedroom, warm and inviting with a tan carpet and accents of taupe and purple on the curtains and headboard. There is one double-glazed window overlooking the street. The king-sized bed is flanked by nightstands and individual wall-mounted reading lamps. A tweed upholstered arm chair in a bright corner offers a welcoming place for reading or reflecting on the day’s activities. There is plenty of space for personal affairs with three wall closets available for guests’ use as well as a glass-topped three-drawer dresser. A door to the right of the closets hides a utility closet which houses the separate washer and dryer. A door to the left of the closets reveals the brand-new bathroom, finished in grey marbled tile and outfitted with a bathtub with hand-held sprayer and wall hook, a pedestal sink, and a wall-mounted medicine chest. A full-length mirror on the back of the door adds to the feeling of spaciousness from the high ceilings. There is no WC in the bathroom.

Thoughtfully planned and decorated, this property is a fine home for a couple with plenty of space, tasteful decor and a superb location. Its luxurious decorative features, long list of amenities and excellent light throughout make it a welcoming spot for visitors new to Paris and the 8th arrondissement or for well-seasoned travelers looking for a top-quality apartment from which to enjoy their favorite city.
